Analyst, Process Engineering Job Opening in Montréal, QC - Canada Post Recruitment 2017

The Analyst Process Engineer applies Industrial Engineering methods and techniques in the area of mail sortation, transportation and delivery taking into consideration equipment, facilities and human resources to improve the measures associated with cost, quality, service, safety and people. Applies skills and expertise in the area of process systems analysis, data and statistical analysis and basic process designs incorporating considerations for work method ergonomics, health, safety and productivity; participates in problem solving or process design teams, and works in accordance with the Engineering Design Process.
The successful candidate will • Provides technical, business and problem analysis to support Engineering optimization projects and participates in the creation and implementation of process improvement solutions.
• Participates in cost reduction efforts by analyzing proposals to determine viability, operational impact and return on investment. Performs method improvement studies by analyzing existing layouts for workflow and suitability of all methods, to improve ergonomics and the efficiency of the work Analyzes and recommends improvements to work methods, process layouts, standardized work procedures and visual information systems.
• Participates in various project teams within the Region. Is accountable for projects; coordinates activities within own projects or portions of other projects within the department. Participates in the productivity standards development effort using standard setting techniques, (MTM, 4M, MOST, time and motion study), and recommends changes to standards. Develops programs for Productivity Performance goals, monitors indicators and provides recommendations for productivity improvements ensuring the development of high quality documentation, including technical information, procedures and reports for mail processing and handling systems.
• Applies the principles of Lean, Six Sigma and Change Management to all work as defined by the Engineering Design Process. Applies Project Management methods and tools to give structure to work assignments, to promote time urgency and productivity. Applies basic lean thinking concepts in the mail operations environment to identify and remove waste, to reduce lead time and cost.
• Evaluates and updates existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to keep practices current. Analyzes procedures to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for changes.
• Undertakes Level 1 audits to make sure that engineering requirements are fully met in all work centres and processes. Undertakes Level 2 audits to ensure that Operations follows proper mail flow standards, procedural standards and 24 hour operating strategy to meet cut-offs and critical despatches. Uses the Level 1 and Level 2 audit results to drive the development of an improvement plan for the engineering or Operations owner of that process.
• Develops and maintains reporting systems that capture appropriate system measures of quality, cost, timeliness and delivery. What, how, why…who uses them?
• Analyzes performance data in order to provide a clear understanding of problems, issues or opportunities that require immediate correction action and improvement.
Job requirements (Education and Work experience) • University degree in Industrial Engineering
• 1-2 years of relevant work experience (asset)
• Registered Professional Engineer OR eligible to achieve registration
• Adept at customer engagement
• Skilled in project scoping/management, critical analysis, systems/process design, and creative solutions development
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, or similar software, and database development using MS Access, or similar software
• Understanding of Lean principles, data analysis methods, process mapping and engineering economics
• Able to analyse data to identify and quantify process issues
• Skilled at identifying customer needs and designing business processes and solutions to meet customer requirements
• Capable of effectively communicating solutions to customers
• Adept at preparing cost/benefit analyses
• Able to operate effectively as an internal consultant in a business oriented fashion
