Position Title: Community Support Worker
Department: Health Promotion & Community Programs
Reporting to: Rochester Heights Program Coordinator
Type: Indeterminate 0.5 FTE 17.5 hours/week
Benefits: Green Shield & the Co-operator Coverage and Pension
Salary Range: $19.28 - $23.23 per hour

Job Summary
Reporting to the Rochester Heights Program Coordinator, the Community Support Worker is responsible for collaborating with House staff to deliver community programs and services and providing program administration support. The Community Support Worker works with staff and tenants to develop, implement, deliver, monitor, and evaluate age and culturally appropriate programs to meet the needs of children, youth and adults using a community development and health promotion framework.
Job Specific Responsibilities & Requirements
  • Strong knowledge base of community development principles
Experience working in a community setting with diverse and low-income communities
  • Experience providing program administration support
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of programs and services and addresses client needs
  • Perform outreach and needs assessment in the Rochester Heights neighbourhood
  • Assist with funding applications and presentations
  • Maintain program statistics; maintain and purchases program supplies and equipment
  • Assist in set-up of activity materials and clean up
  • Work in a manner that preserves confidentiality and ensures safety of clients and employees
  • Other duties as assigned
  • CPR/First Aid; Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training; A valid Ontario driver’s license/use of a vehicle
Current Vulnerable Client Police Record Check
The successful candidate must have good analytical skills, be an innovator, be committed to team work and work within a diversity and social justice framework.
Qualifications
An undergraduate degree in Social Work or equivalent education and experience
English is required, other languages are an asset (French, Arabic, Somali, Swahili, Chinese)
  • Ability to work flexible hours; will include some evening and weekend work
