About MH&L Manufacturing Technology
Material Handling and Logistics has a Manufacturing Technology group with specialized technical skills. The group has a combination of Engineers, Technologists and Specialists who focus on the needs of Operations, Maintenance and the larger corporation. The overall objective of the group is to bring together the right people, the right equipment and the right processes to consistently meet our business goals.
The Manufacturing Process Reliability Team focuses on Equipment and Operational reliability. They use specialized techniques to study the performance of our assets and with the Equipment Specialists design technically based equipment maintenance programs that deliver the highest possible reliability at the lowest possible cost. The team also designs the business systems, processes, work practices and reporting tools that allow us to achieve and maintain a number of International Standards Organization and Technical Standards certifications. They use an additional set of specialized tools to study our processes, and with Operations leadership, design standard operating practices and performance reporting that deliver stable predictable results, the first time, every time.
We are looking for a Mechanical, Mechatronics, Materials, Industrial Engineering or Technology applicant to fill a permanent position as a Process Reliability Co-ordinator/Specialist in the Material Handling & Logistics Manufacturing Technology Department.
Ensure the Manufacturing Technology Process Reliability realizes Business Unit and Corporate goals to achieve a competitive advantage in the areas of manufacturing process capability through the control, stability and improvement of our products, processes and facilities/equipment.
Provide Manufacturing and technical knowledge and skills to support other Dofasco business processes.
Participate in Process Reliability to:
Identify assets contributing to Business Unit Goals
Analyze / identify critical assets
Establish asset performance standards
Develop performance analysis and performance management metrics
Participates with Maintenance and Operations in the troubleshooting and resolution of Process problems
Participate in the Dofasco Sentinel Event Process – for sentinel process failures
Participate in a team environment to work through the FMEA process as a risk mitigation tool for BU specific issues such as but not limited to:
Prevention of product quality liabilities
Prevention of safety and environmental incidents
Prevention of lengthy process outages due to equipment/process failures
Prevention of shutdown or capital project overruns
Supports the development and implementation of Process and Product Quality Control Systems.
Provide assistance guidance re: equipment limitations, capability and potential opportunities to other functional groups (e.g. Commercial, Manufacturing, etc.)
Participate in continuous improvement of both Equipment and Product/Process performance, thereby improving the overall Business Unit performance.
Benchmark – Participate in benchmarking activities, identifying performance gaps and the development of plans to close the gaps.
Provide and use manufacturing and/or technical knowledge and skills to support other business processes that allow Dofasco to meet business goals per the business plan.
Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Materials, Industrial Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Materials Engineering Technology
DMAIC – “Green Belt” Status is an asset
General Manufacturing process knowledge and experience is required
General understanding of Process and Product control methodologies
Working knowledge of Process Reliability Methodologies including but not limited to the following is required:
Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)
Working knowledge of the FMEA Methodology is an asset
Must have good written, verbal and organizational skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skill sets
Able to work in a team and independent environments
Conflict management as it pertains to facilitation is an asset
Working knowledge of MS Office
Office and plant environment.
Hours of Work:
Generally days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required to meet project deadlines or resulting from periods of peak workload.
It should be expected to travel 3-4 times per year varying from local to international for benchmarking, knowledge sharing with other plants and possible conferences.
