Based in our client’s office within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), the Senior Planner/Scheduler will work as part of an integrated, multi-discipline, multi-firm team that is delivering a major infrastructure project that will improve the quality of life for GTA residents. The Senior Planner/Scheduler will be responsible for:
Managing all activities associated with Project planning, scheduling, forecasting, monitoring and critical path analysis, in a shared team environment working with multi-projects/multi-programs.
Supervising other Scheduling team members in a multi-tasking environment and facilitate in implementing the Project objectives.
Participating in the planning process at the front-end of major projects and assignments.
Conducting planning sessions as required.
Supervising development of Master and Detailed Schedule for all phases of the Project (design/engineering, approvals, procurement, construction, testing, start-up and commissioning).
Monitoring, analyzing, and forecasting on a regular basis.
Preparing Gantt (bar) charts, look-ahead schedules, resource histograms, and other charts and S-curves.
Producing integrated cash flow histograms and S-curves for resource loaded schedules.
Producing Logic Diagrams and Time-scaled Logic Diagrams as required.
Reviewing, analyzing, and monitoring Contractor, Vendor, and Owner schedules for schedule compliance. Report any schedule deviations and recommend corrective actions.
Providing input to weekly and monthly reports including narratives, schedule updates, forecasting, trending, analysis and corrective action.
Expediting, reviewing and approving Contractor and Vendor schedules, to ensure plans are realistic and achievable and incorporating into Master schedule.
Incorporating Client milestones and schedules into the Project Schedules.
Working with Project Managers, Design Consultants and General Contractors to develop and monitor project schedule.
Assisting in the preparation of Corporate and Project processes and procedures for developing, implementing and monitoring schedules.
Claims review analysis and recommendations.
Earned Value Analysis and reporting.
Your Capabilities and Credentials:
The ideal candidate will have:
A Degree in Project/Construction Management or Engineering, or a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.
Minimum 10 plus years of Planning & Scheduling experience (major capital programs >$100M) .
Rail transit experience required, though an asset if well-balanced experience across all sectors (industrial, commercial, institutional, government) including experience both in the office, and in the field. Also experience with a range of projects (construction, business process, etc.) in a large multi-program, multi-project environment.
Highly motivated and self-managed with a particular interest in planning & scheduling of major capital projects
Exceptional planning skills.
Ability to work independently to plan new and unique Programs and Projects with Sr. Project Managers and Clients.
Experience with Project Management and Project Controls principles, processes, procedures and software required.
Proficiency in Primavera products is a mandatory requirement - specifically Primavera Project Planner (P6) versions 8.0 or beyond.
Proficiency in MS Access and Excel to manipulate and analyze large data sets.
Experience using and configuring MS Sharepoint collaboration sites.
Proficiency in MS Project and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
General computer literacy and savvy.
Demonstrated problem solving skills, including identification of feasible solutions in the absence of procedures or guidelines.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work in a Team environment.
